The crunchy mixture of corn flakes and walnuts is ideal for breakfast. Since ready-made granola often contains a lot of sugar or additives, it is recommended that you make your own granola.

Granola differs from classic muesli in the way it is made: corn flakes, nuts and seeds and dried or fresh fruits are mixed with muesli, the whole thing is ready to eat immediately and eaten with milk, yogurt or juice. With granola, the basic ingredients are first baked in the oven, resulting in a crunchy muesli.

Basic recipe: Bake corn flakes and walnuts in the oven

The basic recipe for making granola is very simple. To do this, mix oats, spelled or other whole grains with chopped seeds and nuts. Coconuts or walnuts, grated coconut, almonds, sunflower seeds, caraway seeds, senyo or cashew nuts are suitable. Amaranth or puffed quinoa go great too.


If you want, you can add dried fruit to the granola.

Then mix it with vegetable oil, for example coconut oil or refined vegetable oil, and some maple syrup or agave syrup, or you can also use pureed banana. If you like, add some cinnamon. Then spread the slightly sticky mass on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake in the oven at a temperature of 160 to 180 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes until cooked, after about 8 minutes mix well so that the granola turns brown once. Keep an eye on the oven, as the granola turns dark and bitter quickly.

Then remove the pan from the oven and let the granola cool completely. It will keep in a tightly closed jar or glass top for about four weeks.

It is better to cut some fresh fruits into small pieces and add them, for example, bananas, peaches or apples.
